Have you ever reached a point in your life where you realized you have no idea what you’re doing?
Well, I came to that point last night.
(To be honest, I come to that point about once a semester, but each time it’s just as fresh and new and terrifying as the last.)
I don’t know what sets me off, but every so often I look around me and think, “Huh, I am absolutely and completely lost in a world of overachievers and go-getters.”

It’s just been one of those weeks.
The sort where you don’t want to do anything but sit around and breathe. And any call to action (be it school work or real work) just makes you feel defiant and cynical. Literally.
I had a test this week, but instead of spending quality time making sure I had my answers mostly correct I drew Waldo instead. I then challenged by professor to find him. Just to be devious, I told her I drew one more Waldo than I actually had.
It’s just that kind of week.
Any assignment I had was met with derision, and then promptly ignored for Youtube. This brings me to the point of this blog entry.
The beauty of YouTube Procrastination.

Fact: Study abroad is expensive.
Opinion: That’s probably why so many students - interested or not - pass on it.
Fact: There are a ton of scholarships out there that can get you on the next flight out.
Embarrassing admission: I’ve never gone for any of those scholarships m’self, but let’s take a look at your options, shall we?

I love keeping track of things. I’m somewhat obsessed with how many times I’ve seen movies, how much time I’ve spent playing video games, and how long albums are (in minutes). The order of it appeals to me. This is why Last.fm is awesome.
Last.fm is an aggregator that charts how many times you listen to things. It’s like the iTunes counter, but since it’s on the Internet, your count survives through computer crashes and OS changes. Mine’s been ticking for a week shy of 18 months now, and I’ve logged 15,640 plays. I’ve listened to the Mountain Goats 661 times, Damien Jurado 444 times, Smashing Pumpkins and Christian folksters Caedmon’s Call 68 times each, and Senses Fail exactly one time. It’s so much fun to use; I highly recommend it to you.

After several weeks of drought, we finally get a great crop of releases this week. From underground hip-hop to indie rock to singer/songwriter fare, there’s something for everyone this week. Rejoice!
Buy:
Hello Hurricane - Switchfoot. The alt-rockers return. I’ve been a fan of these guys for almost ten years, so I’m excited to see how they do this time.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Live (CD/DVD set). The multi-faceted rock’n'rollers release a live album. I’m excited about this, as their career spans heavy rock, instrumental rock, pop, blues, and more.
