Why, hello. I’m Stephen Carradini, your resident music critic/failing hipster. I say failing because I’m not good at looking down on people (yet). I have a background most hipsters would die for, though: founder/editor-in-chief of seven-year-old music blog IndependentClauses.com, former Delusions of Adequacy contributor, and former writer for many, many other media outlets (Tulsa World, BlogCritics, The Hub, etc.). Also getting me closer to being a hipster is the fact that my bass, piano and vocal skills have led me to be a founder/member of several ill-fated rock bands and general Ben Folds wannabe. Finally, I’m a mix cd creator extraordinaire. It’s just the truth. I can’t lie.
My favorite genres are folk, pop-punk, indie-rock, indie-pop, techno and post-hardcore, in that order. The only genre I won’t tolerate is grind (it’s just not music). Everything else (reggae, soca, klezmer, death metal, dub, grime, you name it) I’ll listen to and at least tell you what I think. You’re really getting a pretty good deal with me as a music blogger. I love classic rock and modern indie rock; old-school folk and new-school underground rap. You’ve pretty much got the whole thing and some extra.
If you have beef with me, or want me to write about something (your band, your friend’s band, your favorite band, etc), shoot me an e-mail at stephen.carradini@gmail.com. I’d love to hear from you.
